CAN DO! Bumper Sticker from 1985

CAN DO! evolved out of several years of experimentation, primarily by CENTER SPACE (the Center for Spiritual, Personal And Community Empowerment) and the Ultimate Destiny University for Successful Living, two non-profit membership organizations that helped launch and manage the evolution of CAN DO! The research and development process combined personal development and community development in Kankakee, Illinois, Muncie, Indiana, Gary, Indiana, Utica, New York and Nassau in The Bahamas.

There have been hundreds of positive newspaper articles about CAN DO! and related programs and projects in nine states and three countries. We’ll also share our vision of Expanding the Circle of Success, a project designed to provide expanded access to state-of-the-art development training resources to previously under-served populations.

This includes our plans to serve as the catalyst for the donation of 100 million dollars of empowerment training resources through 10,000 locally initiated CAN DO! Community Empowerment Resource Centers™ and ETMS™, Empowerment Training Mentoring Systems™.

Our campaign to Expand the Circle of Success in being launched in 2012 with a Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP will invite potential community and organizational sponsors of an Empowerment Resource Center and or Empowerment Training Mentoring System to apply for a free donation of either program. The only investment the sponsors will need to cover is the cost of travel and training of the local CAN DO! Empowerment facilitator. This week long training-of-trainers will be provided at various locations across North America initially.

The RFP process includes a form that applicants complete and submit along with their request for the donation of an ERC or ETMS. In some instances, CAN DO! and our sponsors will invite a municipality to participate as a prototype. An example of the letter of invitation is provided along with an overview of how the projects are designed to become totally self-funding.

Our rather ambitious goal for the 10,000 locally initiated community based empowerment centers is based on about 30 years of “proof of concept” with previous award-winning models and prototypes that will be documented on this web site.

You CAN DO! Too training program that helps communities (as small as Kankakee with a population of about 25,000) how to determine their common needs, pool their resources, and co-produce large-scale development training programs. These types of events are most often produced by for-profit promoter from out of town who produce a one day show and take home the dough.

The Ultimate Destiny model empowers and enables the community to co-produce the events specifically designed to meet their priority needs, and enable them to also showcase local talent, build community partnerships, expand their capacities and keep most of the revenues for their community’s benefit.

CAN DO!, YOUth CAN DO!, and You CAN DO! Too, and the Empowerment Resource Center Showcases are featured components in the $10,000. Empowerment Training Mentoring Systems from Ultimate Destiny and also the $25,000 Empowerment Resource Centers and the larger quarter of a million dollar Community Empowerment Resource Centers which are delivered over 24 months.

Also included in You CAN DO! Too are all the materials, planning documents, budget formats and spreadsheets sponsorship programs, membership solicitation materials, marketing and promotional programs, community outreach and fund raising components, etc. covering the entire process of producing major large-scale programs from concept to the production of successful events.

The resource materials then help the local community generate maximum leveraging of those events and related ongoing program components such as periodic Resource Showcases and ongoing seminars and workshops marketed primarily through the larger higher profile events with world-class authors, speakers and trainers.

All of these speakers and trainers are available through the Ultimate Destiny Speakers Bureau whose principals have been managing speakers’ bureau services and producing large scale development training events for over 15 years.

Now we are prepared to share the results of several years worth of research and development in the You CAN DO! Too Resource Manual. It includes templates for producing major events, community newsletter, a 10 Step Co-Creative Visioning and Strategic Planning Process, organizational development documents, business plans, marketing plans, project work plans, sponsorship campaigns, etc.
